Date and time:

Thursday, April 16, 2026, from 6 p.m.

Venue:

Frýdek Místek Municipal Library, Místek branch

Hlavní tř. 111/112

The Municipal Library in Frýdek-Místek participated in last year’s festival program by organising a lecture by Magdalena Živná entitled “The Unfinished Life of Viktor Ullmann” (April 10, 2024). This year, too, not only the name but also the music of this composer and his fellow composers persecuted by Nazism will be heard here. The library took advantage of an offer from the People’s Conservatory in Ostrava, whose chamber string ensemble, led by Alžběta Kolářová, prepared a cross-sectional program of works by V. Ullmann, E. Schulhoff, G. Klein, K. Reiner, P. Eben, and others for last year’s 80th anniversary of the end of World War II. After the premiere at the synagogue in Krnov in June 2025 and several repeat performances in other Moravian cities, the concert will also be performed in the Blue Salon of the Místek branch of the library as a prologue to this year’s ULLMANNOVSKÉ SLAVNOSTI 2026 festival.
